Recently the Victorian state government decided to place restrictions on wind farm development. I don't want to get into a debate over the scientific evidence of the health hazards or the contribution of wind power to the energy supply. However I do want to point out that Coal seam mining and Gas Fraccing continue unabated, with not even a sign that the Victorian state government remotely intends to do anything about it. We could argue whether wind farms really present a health hazard or risk damaging the environment but surely there is less objection to them than there is to Coal seam mining and Gas Fraccing. I would hazard a guess that the evidence against them is also much more compelling than against wind turbines. One has to wonder why this double standard policy? My bet is that the Greens are to blame. No, not the party, the dollars. I mean, projects which use Coal seam mining and Gas Fraccing contribute real jobs and real money to the economy. These nonsense, feel-good, greenie wind farms are just taxpayer funded scams.
UPDATE: I take that back. I am now convinced that the Victorian state government is all about working in the interests of its citizens rather than those of large corporations. After all, it makes perfect sense. They are, after all, hard working public servants. Coal seam mining and Gas Fraccing are good for us.
